About
Routine flight delays, congestion in the skies, on the tarmac or in the airport terminal mean more frustration for those who must travel throughout national airspace system. For 99.99% of passengers onboard any flight, the “system” itself - remains a mystery. Passengers increasingly want to know more about the cause of delays. However, the complexity behind the largest and safest system in the world, our air transportation system, cannot be explained in a sound bite, a newspaper article or television interview. How do weather, airport runway capacity or separation standards ultimately affect flight schedules, departures and arrivals? What is the promise of NextGen? And what does the future look like for personal and business travel?
The Red Cloud Report is a web podcast (available in Apple iTunes®) that attempts to answer these and other questions. We take a behind-the-scenes look into the people, research, programs, systems and technology that make it all happen and provide some insight when it doesn’t. Who do we interview? With each episode of The Red Cloud Report podcast, we will spotlight a critical piece of our nations air traffic control system. We will talk to the experts – the thought leaders, policy makers, managers, engineers, controllers, operators and other professionals who are dedicated to ensuring the movement of goods and services in our economy and most importantly – responsible for the safety of the flying public 50,000 times a day. Who will listen? Plain and simple – anyone interested in how all this stuff works.
